Engineering

Founding Engineer, Memo Pipeline

Own the path a deck takes from a messy PDF to a memo an investor trusts enough to act on.

Location
San Francisco, CA or remote in the US
Type
Full time
Compensation
$170,000 to $205,000 plus 0.4% to 0.9% equity

Meridian reads pitch decks and data rooms and writes the memo an investor uses to decide whether to spend an hour more on a deal. The pipeline is the product: extraction, the model calls, the verification pass that grounds every number back in the source document, and the storage behind it.

You would be the third engineer. The work is not glamorous and it decides whether the product is trustworthy. A number that is off by a decimal is worse than no number at all.

What you would own

  • Make extraction survive real inputs: screenshot-quality decks, data rooms exported as forty separate PDFs, spreadsheets pasted out of email.
  • Keep a long data room inside one request without losing a figure at a boundary.
  • Own the evaluation set. Every prompt change is measured against decks with known answers before it ships.
  • Cut the cost per memo without cutting the quality, which mostly means routing better rather than prompting cleverer.

What we are looking for

  • Five or more years building backend systems other people depend on.
  • You have worked with language models in production and have opinions about evaluation that came from being burned.
  • You write TypeScript comfortably, or you will within a fortnight.
  • You care about the difference between a demo and a thing a fund relies on before wiring money.

How hiring runs

A thirty minute call with a founder, then a paid work session on a real problem from our backlog, three to four hours, then conversations with two people you would work with. Four steps, usually inside two weeks, and we tell you where you stand at every one.
