About

A tool for the investor who reads too many decks

Meridian exists because first-pass diligence is language work done by hand, at the speed of reading, on a Sunday. Language models changed what is possible, and we are building that into a tool an investor can trust before wiring money.

Why we built it

The same weekend, deal after deal

Elena spent six years as an operator and angel investor, writing early checks into fifteen companies. Every deal started the same way: a PDF in her inbox on a Friday, the same five sections to work through by hand, and Sunday afternoon gone before she had decided whether the deal was worth a call. The structure was always the same. The reading was always from scratch.

Rohan spent nine years building document-understanding systems, most recently extraction and reasoning over long, messy financial filings. He had the same read on the problem from the other side: reading forty slides and pulling out what matters is exactly the kind of patient work a language model is good at and a tired investor is not at eleven on a Sunday night.

Meridian is the two of those put together. The same five-section memo every careful investor writes anyway, produced from the deck and the data room in about a minute, with every number grounded back in the source document. First-pass diligence, in an hour, not a weekend.

We are careful about what Meridian claims. It is analysis and organization support, not investment advice. It never says buy or pass, never assigns a score, and never recommends a decision. That judgement stays with the investor, and it should.

The team

9 people, working on this full time

Five of them are below. Everyone is based in the United States and nobody here has a second job: Meridian is what we do.

Elena Marsh

Co-founder and CEO

San Francisco, CA

Spent six years as an operator and angel investor, first leading product at a fintech and then writing early checks into fifteen companies. She kept losing the same weekend to reading decks and rebuilding the same memo, and built Meridian so a first-pass read takes an hour instead.

Rohan Desai

Co-founder and CTO

San Francisco, CA

Built document-understanding systems for nine years, most recently extraction and reasoning over long, messy financial filings. He owns the memo pipeline, the model routing layer and the evaluation set every prompt change is measured against.

Sofia Reyes

Head of Investing Research

San Francisco, CA

Former principal at a seed fund. She owns the diligence framework Meridian works from: what a healthy net retention curve looks like at seed, where a TAM claim is usually inflated, and which questions actually change a decision.

Marcus Feld

Founding Engineer

Austin, TX

Works on the parts nobody sees: deck and PDF extraction that survives a screenshot-quality export, keeping a fifty page data room inside one request, and the verification pass that grounds every number back in the source document.

Nina Alvarez

Design

Brooklyn, NY

Designs the memo view, which is the whole product. Her rule: an investor should know the shape of the deal, the top risk and the first question to ask within ten seconds of the page loading.

The people and the investors named on this page are illustrative. Meridian is a pre-seed company and we would rather say so plainly than have you find out later. Everything about the product is real: the memo engine, the model routing and the free tier all work exactly as described.
